Service Learning Requirements: The State of Maryland and Caroline County requires that students complete 75 hours of service learning before graduating from high school. Here, in Caroline County, we begin service learning at the elementary level with grade level projects. This begins in the 3rd grade. Third through Fifth grade students each year complete 5 hours of service learning. Therefore upon leaving elementary school, students should have already completed 15 hours of service learning needed for graduation. All Elementary service projects are infused in the Science and/or Social Studies curriculum and pre-approved at the board level.
